Translation
Emayavaṉ, the son of Eḷampērataṉ (of) (I)lañci, caused to be given this cave (muḻa-vu-kai).
Locus
Above the drip ledge on the brow of the cave at the foot of the Kaḻiñcimalai hill at Arittapatti. Above the inscription copied earlier from this cave (7: Arittapatti - 1). The upper inscription is worn out badly, not being protected by the drip ledge. The inscription is quite difficult to make out. The text is however complete except probably for the loss of a letter at the beginning.

1. The beginning is lost. According to TBK (2:2), the letter i is seen here.

4. TBK reads eḷam-pērā-ataṉ and interprets the name as Iḷam-pēr-ātaṉ.
