Notes
|
1. A symbol (discovered by our team in 1992). TBK (8:2) has three additional letters ti yā ṉa at the end of the inscription not confirmed by the CICT Photographic Survey.
2. The alternative reading ēma-ūr as a place name is possible.
3. The alternative reading ciḻivaṉ ataṉ as a composite personal name is possible but less likely in the present context. See ETE 2, Commentary 19.4.
4. cf. LT tāṉam 'gift, charity'; dāna(ṁ) (Pkt.).
5. 'of the cave' is understood from the context.
